Integrated Circuits & Systems
The research, teaching and learning activities in EE6 specialization are focused on techniques for design and development of integrated circuits for various applications.
Associated Research Labs
Embedded Systems Lab (EmSys)
Supports electronic and embedded system design, prototyping and evaluation from sensor interfacing to full system development. More than 20 test ASICs designed by graduate students have been tested in this lab.
Integrated Systems Laboratory (ISL)
The Integrated Systems Laboratory (ISL) at IIT Bombay is a simulations and testing laboratory located on the first floor of the EE Annexe Building. The lab primarily designs and tests passive and active RF circuits, with EM design software like CST Microwave Studio, HFSS, and Keysight ADS installed on Core i7 PCs with augmented RAM. The lab works closely with the VLSI lab for RFIC simulations, and collaborates with industry and foreign universities — with a number of equipment funded by industry. The lab specializes in on-chip testing, RF and analog testing, with extensive test and measurement facilities.
Computer Architecture and Dependable System Laboratory (CADSL)
Research in advanced and futuristic computer architectures with compiler and OS support, dependable systems including formal verification and VLSI testing, and CAD for VLSI and hardware accelerators.
VLSI Design Lab
Main research focus is in the areas of analog and digital design, with access to all major VLSI CAD vendor tool licenses including Synopsys, Cadence, Mentor, Agilent, Magma, and Xilinx.
Advanced Integrated Circuits and Systems Lab (aiCAS Lab)
aiCAS lab was established in 2018. Research at the aiCAS lab focuses on high-performance Analog, RF, Digital, Mixed-signal ICs, and Embedded Systems design. State-of-the-art hardware and software tools are available to develop integrated circuits using RF-Analog and Digital design flow. The lab has high-end measurement instruments required for the post-silicon validation of ICs.
Communication Laboratory
Researches communication networks, RF electronics and wireless communication, high power microwave sources and radar, and fiber optics and optical communication.
